AliExpress Is Secretly Killing Your Bluetooth Headphones
Last night I was working with AirPods in, and a shopping tab froze everything I had Notion, Slack, and AliExpress open on my desk, AirPods paired to both my laptop and phone. The moment AliExpress loaded, the headphones glitched out. Turned out: AliExpress was secretly running something called "audio fingerprinting" in the background — it makes your browser play a tiny silent audio loop to identify your device, and along the way it hogs your computer's Bluetooth audio channel. When you're using multipoint (headphones connected to both laptop and phone at once), it just keeps yanking the connection. I'm not technical. It took me days to figure this out. At one point I was convinced my AirPods battery had gone bad and I was about to buy new ones — turns out it was my browser. This isn't unique to AliExpress, but among shopping sites it's the worst offender. Back when I was doing TikTok Shop product research, I had it open 10+ hours a day — basically free labor for them.
