A Client Sent Images—Do You Still Have to Find Violations Manually?

A late-night message had me zooming in on every image

At 10 p.m. last Tuesday, Shenzhen-based freelance designer Sister Lin got a message from a client: campaign posters were going live tomorrow, and could she review 48 images first? I was just as frazzled, enlarging images one by one, staring at tiny text, and checking backgrounds for anything that should not appear. With the client pressing, one missed image could trigger rework. I was seriously at my limit.

What Pangram Image does, and who is using it

Simply put, it works like an assistant focused on image risks. Upload an image, and it can inspect the text in the frame, along with adult or violent content that may be unsuitable for public use. It is not Photoshop, and there is no coding to learn. Content moderation teams are already using it to screen assets before human reviewers confirm the results. Another common use is an extra pre-publication check for brands and e-commerce teams, helping prevent fine print, pricing, or background imagery from causing trouble.

What it costs to try it today

Money: Start with the free allowance instead of buying a long-term plan. Time: Set aside 5 images and about 15–30 minutes. Technical barrier: Copy an image, click upload, and you are done—no programming required. First step: Open Pangram Image’s image detection page, create a review task, select “Upload Images,” then drag in one test image that contains no private information. Keep confidential client files out for now.

I got stuck here too: at first, I kept trying to upload dozens of images at once, which made it hard to tell which one had a problem. I switched to running 5 images first, reviewing the flags in the report, then doing a manual check. I can try the same way without processing the entire project on day one. If I am not testing it now, that is fine too—when orders are few, manual review may actually be easier.

How I would choose based on my workload

If I am just starting out and taking scattered jobs each week, I would stick with manual review and try Pangram Image once I have more than 20 images. If I already have 1–2 long-term clients who regularly send posters or product images, I would use it for pre-publication screening to reduce repeated back-and-forth. If I am scaling and need the whole team to apply consistent standards, I would compile a list of common risks first, then decide whether to upgrade to a paid allowance. Running one round with my own test images is safer than starting with client files.

Pangram Image
