On August 27, 2026, during a Bloomberg Tech segment, Hugging Face co-founder and CSO Thomas Wolf announced the company's launch of MicroDuck, an open-source robot capable of walking, conversing, and roller-skating. Wolf also disclosed that the company is currently shipping at a pace of roughly "one unit every four seconds."
More notably, he declined to comment on reports that Nvidia is closing in on an approximately $13B acquisition of Hugging Face, stating only that
The company regularly receives acquisition and investment inquiries.
That single sentence is the true gravitational center of the entire interview; MicroDuck is merely the pretext.
Note: I have not seen independent third-party verification of the "one every four seconds" metric. It will most likely be PR-spun or clarified as pre-orders / letters of intent in due course. For now, I quote Wolf's original statement.
